Almost 2 years ago to the minute, Craig & I were FINALLY pronounced husband and wife. Or maybe this was about the time that we were lighting the Unity Candle and my stomach was growling??? Anyway...I'm glad to be married to my wonderful guy! We went out Saturday night and then came home and put our feet up! We're going out again tomorrow night, so that will be fun!
Yes, I know I have been lacking in posting. So much has been happening and going on. Our aunt and family seem to be doing well with the loss of our step-cousin. Just please keep them in your prayers.
We went to Washington D.C. the 6th-11th. Thank God we went that week, because last week there was snow, rain, and a protest in the mall area where we spent a lot of time! We had a great time while out there. Craig & I, and Lori & Aaron flew out and met our parents, our Aunt Kay, Aunt Coni & Uncle Steve and their son Blake. They left a day earlier.
On Wednesday, we went to the National Cathedral and then walked around a lot. It was snowing the whole day! But, how many can say that they walked around in not so frigid temps and it was snowing and you got your picture taken in front of the White House with a White lawn??? Thursday we went to the Capitol, then we met our U.S. Rep, Ike Skelton, who's friends with Craig's family. He is the chairman of the Armed Services committee and they were having hearings with those in charge at the Walter Reed Hospital. We were priviliged to get to go into the hearing, because Ike let us get in. The person who was being "grilled" was later fired/forced to resign that next Sunday. It was pretty intense in there. Then we went walking again, and ate at the most expensive McDonald's I've ever seen. It was $7.00 for a value meal! I had pizza...but a personal size was still almost $7! This was at the Smithsonian, but we were starved! We did some other walking around again.
Friday we went to see how money was made at the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. the Smell of money is wonderful. Then we decided to walk around the whole tidal basin to the Jefferson Memorial, FDR memorial, Lincoln Memorial, all of the War Memorials and then to the Washington Monument, then to the Reagan trade center to eat. Then we went to 2 other Smithsonians, then we rode the metro to go to the Pentagon! That was cool...we were close to where the building was hit on 9-11.
Saturday we went to Mt. Vernon, then we went to Arlington Cemetery. We watched the changing of the guard at the Tomb. The previous day, my mom & aunts met a guy from Illinois who was one of the guards. They were wondering if he was on duty Saturday. He was not, but my cool mom spoke with the Sargeant in charge, and he let us come down into their offices and meet one of the guards. That was cool! Then I had the priviledge of driving our rental car in downtown D.C. trying to get to the ESPN Zone. I was stressed out of my mind, about hit a bus, a parked car, and lost my cool! We laugh now, but I don't really want to do it again! We ate at the ESPN Zone, and played games in their "arcade", then the 4 of us plus our cousin Blake drove around D.C. getting pictures of the monuments, and also going to the White house at night. That was cool!!! Aaron was doing drive by (shootings)...that means he was taking a picture as we drove.
Sunday, everyone that lives in Illinois started home, and the 4 of us went to the Holocaust Museum, then drove to Baltimore to get home. All said...I think we walked over 30 miles (at least) and got about 4-5 hours of sleep a night. It took awhile to recooperate. We had a good time. Some time (when Lori gets me them) I will post some pics. There are some good ones!
I love my new job! The people I work with are great. I actually started doing my billing today, so the day flew right on by. I love that!
Well, I've rambled on enough...but that's what's been going on. Hopefully I can be better about getting my blog updated. One can hope!
Have a good week y'all!!!
